Jays Season

Well here we are at the end of another baseball season...SIGH.....I hate this time of year. Snow coming and dark days suck. Thats besides the point. The Jays I would hope are ending this season with positive thoughts for their immediate future. They are guaranteed a .500 record despite long term losses of BJ Ryan, Lyle Overbay, Greg Zaun, Roy Halladay, AJ Burnett and Gustavo Chacin amongst others who were out.

This team had every right to roll over and croak in May. They instead hung in there and gave Jays fans some hope into September. Something we haven't had that late into the year for quite some time now.

Think about what this season could have been like (I know its the over used coulda, woulda, shoulda, thing). BJ Ryan stays healthy and they win 4-5 more games in that 9 game losing streak in May that they lost leads in the 9th inning. Lyle Overbay, Troy Glaus and Vernon Wells all healthy and hitting for their career averages probably gets this team the much needed clutch hits they were missing all season and maybe wins them another 5-7 games. How many were they out? 11-12? Well there you have it...This season was closer than we all see in the final standings.

They have what every major league team wished they had. Four good quality starters in Burnett, Halladay, Mcgowan and Marcum. I am hoping that Chacin, despite Jesse Litsch's success,  does come back for next year because I do think you need one lefty in the starting rotation just to throw teams off balance during a series.

They also have something else going into next year, hope and confidence after a relatively strong September that saw lots of young guys start and play strong that shows good depth.

I don't know about all you other Jays fans but for me my countdown to spring training begins October 1st. I can't wait to see this team healthy. In the mean time....enjoy ABBTY season. (Any Body But the Yankees)

Hmm, there seems to be some difficulties with the first link, as it returns a 404 error

Good afternoon. I wanted to write you a quick comment to express my thanks. I've been following your blog for a month or so and have picked up a great deal of beneficial information as well as enjoyed the way you've setup your blog. I am attempting to run my own blog but I think it's far too general. I would like to focus more on narrower topics. Being all things to all people is not all that its cracked up to be. Many thanks.

i thought this was a really great post to read. i'll check back for new posts by you!
