BOSTON – Accused of purchasing human growth hormone and syringes for a period of three years through 2005, Cleveland Indians pitcher Paul Byrd contended Sunday that he was being treated for a tumor on his pituitary gland, took the drug under medical supervision and regretted that the story surfaced hours before Game 7 of the American League championship series.
In an email to Yahoo! Sports, Byrd wrote, "I'm not sure there is a story here since I didn't do anything illegal. The tragedy in all of this is the timing. I am in the bullpen tonight and don't want this to be a distraction for our team."
I believe all the above. Good for Paul Byrd for stepping up as soon as this story came out and putting it to bed. Im no Indians fan but I believe Paul Byrd. The fact he came out immediately and admitted he had it prescribed to him shows he has nothing to hide. Now lets put this story to rest now and get to baseball. There isn't much left!

Mike – You’re kidding right?
This meat head is on the juice. First of all he said MLB knew all about his ‘condition’. If that’s the case, why did they say it was news to them? Secondly, if you have a legitimate health problem, do you buy your meds off the internet? The answer is no! You take your prescription to the drug store and buy them there.
Did he break the law? Probably not but he is a cheater and his season is over!
Im giving him the benefit of the doubt. HGH is used to treat pituitary gland issues lets wait and see how this shakes out.
