Buffalo's own Tim Russert to me is the best person interviewing candidates out there. He doesn't ask fluffy questions that avoid issues, he attacks the issues surrounding candidates. One issue he got especially tough about today with Mike Huckabee was separation of church and state. This is the full interview from the show this morning in three parts. Tim Russert has this incredible ability to challenge candidates to answer the tough questions that other debates either avoid or reword so not to make them think too much.

The American public for the most part isn't that stupid. Most of us want these candidates to be asked challenging questions, on the environment, healthcare, the economy, energy policies and other issues that will be greatly changing the way we live in the coming years. I think its the media that dumbs us down as to what we get to know about the candidates, thats what makes Meet the Press so refreshing. Id love to see Tim Russert grill asshole media people like Rush Limbaugh and Tim Wallace two of the most annoying people on the Right.

I actually like Huckabee, more than any of the other Republican candidates besides Ron Paul. He actually supports doing things to protect not destroy the environment and he is not totally against a not for profit healthcare system. I just wish he'd stick to politics and not so much religious bantering in his recent ads. We are not electing a president based on their religion, if so Mitt Romney would be have been out for not being a Christian and Gulliani would have been out a long time ago for being an asshole.
