Steve Bernier fit right in last night with 2 goals and an 1 assist. But what impressed me most was his flare for the physical side of the game.

Late in the third period last night there was a scrum along the boards involving Derek Roy and Bernier wasted no time what so ever in coming over and destroying the guy messing with the smaller Roy. That is a good sign and an example of how you are supposed to stick up for your team.

If he brings half of what he did last night on a nightly basis, the playoffs should be no problem. He adds a big body that can bang and he can skate too. The goals he hooked up with Roy and Vanek on he was keeping up with them and Vanek and Roy are not turtles out there, they can move.

Time will tell if Bernier is all that but after last night he at the very least will provide fans with something to pay attention to as the season winds down into playoff time.
