First Basemen

Lyle Overbay just came off his worst season as a professional. Bothered most of last season with a wrist injury that plagued him at the plate he came away from last season with a disappointing 10 homeruns, 49 RBI's and hit just .240. Previous to last year in 2006, he hit .312 with 22 homeruns and 92 RBI's.

It is imperative that Lyle Overbay be A)Healthy and B) Hit like he did in 2006. Hes on 30-31 years old so there is absolutely no reason to think that at firstbase he could not return to his 2006 form. If he was even average for the Jays last year, they win 3-5 more games with him healthy.

So, with Overbay in the lineup and healthy it will give the Jays a guy who is going to hit 6th or 7th in the order, though if need be he could hit 2nd or 3rd in the batting order with the power and average he can put up. He is a guaranteed 20-30 homeruns, 40-50 doubles, .285-.300 batting average and 90-110 RBI's if healthy. If they get just his average numbers this year it should provide a big boost to an offense that under performed last season.

If injury strikes, look for Matt Stairs to fill in again at first.
