Giving You More Than Just My Two Cents
Goodbye Soupy

This trade should be encouraging to all Sabres fans. A) The Sabres got something for Campbell before he left for nothing and B) They are going to have money to sign Miller and other free agents such as Pomenville in another year or so.
It is not a sign that they are giving up on the playoffs, if anything its a re-birth for Nathan Paetsch and an opening for other potential offensive defensemen in the system. Paetsch is certainly capable of taking some of Soupy's ice time.
As for what they got, how can you complain about the 1st round draft choice? Correct me if Im wrong but they have two this year and management has always drafted well. The player they got, Steve Bernier, is a former first rounder himself with a lot of upside, hes big at 6'2" and 225 lbs. He has 13 goals in 53 games this season. So the Sabres made out on this deal.
Im excited, for both Campbell and the Sabres. Soupy gets a shot at a cup with San Jose and the Sabres still have a shot at the playoffs and create a nice future with a former first rounder who is only 22 and 2 first round draft picks in this upcoming draft.
