Reed Johnson Issues

Jays outfield 3

Well just what I was wondering about when I posted the Stewart post, the signing of Stewart could lead to hard feelings if things don't go Reed's way.

Reed stated today that he expects to play whether its for the Jays or for another team if he gets beat out by Stewart. Why can't we all just get along? This team has as much depth as they have had since Ed Sprague, Derek Bell, and Turner Ward were coming off the bench in 1993.

My honest opinion is, if Matt Stairs has to be a pinch hitter only, then so be it. The strongest platoon would be Stewart/Johnson in left. Stairs could come in as a late inning pinch hitter or in case of injury. I still like Johnson and would like to see him and Stewart rough it out in the interest of winning and beating those Damn Yankees and Red Sox.

As we saw last season there will be injuries and sooner or later, they will be glad to have Stewart. Johnson and Stairs hanging around in the system. If there is a way to carry 4 1/2 outfielders (I say 4 1/2 because Stairs can also play some infield) then do it and get Johnson on the same page because this could realistically be a very, very good year with that left field spot looking as solid as it has in a few years.
