Some Environmental/Health Facts About Eating Meat

| | Comments (0)

I have been reading a few books about going meat free and a few facts I have come up with provide some evidence that its more than just for the health of myself and the cows:

1. The average American eats 260 pounds of beef per year or 5 pounds per week.

2. Livestock in the US consume 70% of all the wheat, corn and gran we grow and use 35% of our land.

3. A quarter pounder with cheese used 55 square feet of rainforest to raise the cattle to produce that QP.

4. For every pound of beef, 7 pounds of grain are fed to the cow, which is not the Cows natural diet. Cows are natural grazers and need to eat grass.

5. If Americans reduced the amount of meat we eat by 10% it would save enough grain to feed 60 million people. Thats the same number that die from starvation each year.
