I took the Giants today to beat the Pats, just a low wage friendly bet but I figured hey what the hell. I have no vested interest in either team so why not create a vested interest.

The Giants beating the Pats today is not far fetched to me and I think after winning 18 in a row, the Pats are due to lose. The pressure is squarely on their shoulders to do something that really has never been done before. The 72 dolphins didn't win this many in their undefeated season.

Im not saying that the Pats are not capable of playing under pressure because clearly they are, Im saying that they are due, in none of their previous Super Bowls were they in the position that they are in today. Lose and this season though memorable for them in many ways, will also be forgotten. The Giants will be known more for beating them than the Patriots will be known for winning the previous 18.

Add to that the fact that the Giants were the closest to beating the Patriots all season coming withing 3 points controlling most of the game in December. If Brandon Jacobs gets going in the running game and tires the Pats defense, it could get really interesting. Also keep in mind that the Giants have won all of their playoff games on the road, so they are tested with battle scars from the playoffs and should not feel inferior to this Patriots team.

Given my choice Id rather win the final than my bet of the Giants over the Pats but Id love it if both happened.
