With Thomas Gone, Sign Bonds

| | Comments (3)

The Jays have a choice to make, go with Matt Stairs and Rod Barajas as their DH for the rest of the year or sign the one guy who could potentially turn the AL East on its head.

As long as Barry doesn't have to play the field Ill take him because he can still crush the ball. And don't give me the steroid crap either, because what we have found out is that half the league is taking them anyway.

Bonds is still a threat at the plate and would provide a huge addition in the middle of the order and even if hes not hitting, will draw walks and get on base.

Yes the Jays are still on the line for $8 Million of the Big Hurts salary, but if they really want to show how serious they are, go and get him before Boston or NY takes a chance and wins with it. Besides, nobody else appears interested so go ahead and offer him a contract, maybe you get him for $3 or 4 million for a year and tack on some incentives.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That?s a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
