$9.25

My first impression last night of going to the movies, unbeknownst to me as I walked away from the purchase counter at the Elmwood Regal, I just happened to notice that my ticket was $9.25. Since when did they go over $7.50?

My last time to the movies was with my wife on New Years Eve and tickets were still $8.00 I think. $9.25 for a movie is getting outrageous. They are supposed to be affordable. I look at it this way, last night I went on my own because frankly, my wife doesn't like Indy but lets say you are taking a family of four, which is how they compare things these days:

Fill up the tank and drive to the theatre (assuming a mid-size car): $55 (conservatively)

Four movie tickets (Im assuming the kids are not eligible for the child rate): 4X$9.25= $37.00

The kids all want popcorn and a drink: 1 large popcorn $6.00, a large drink for everyone to share $5.50

So by the end of the night and going conservatively on snacks, it costs ya over $100 to go to the movies. $9.25 is only a .75 cent jump to $10, how long before that goes into effect. Double digits for a movie ticket. They should come do a live stage performance of the movie for that price. My how times have changed.

How far away from a movie theatre are you that you spend $55 in gas? That is one long drive.

It is expensive but not THAT expensive.
