Republican Senator Arlen Spector has clearly lost his mind. He wants to re-open the NFL spygate case which I may say, the NFL seemed to be handling pretty well on its own and in fact closed its own investigation the other day.

So why must the tax payers of this country pay for the US Senate and their indpendent investigation of a problem that the NFL and Roger Goodell should be able to handle on their own?

I mean come on, teams video taping other teams whether illegal by NFL standards or not, is not a cause for national security or worth the tax payer dollars of this country. Not to mention that the NFL should be able to police itself on this and other issues. It handles its own substance abuse issues and other problems. 

It is especially insignificant when you take into consideration that we have a significant national debt, a lack of funding for medicaire and medicaid, a war that we are having trouble paying for and a whole host of other issues that our politicians and leaders in Washington should be spending their time on.

Spygate, to me isn't that big a deal all the teams do it and so what? Its no different than a guy on second stealing signs from the catcher and then relaying those signs to the batter in baseball but there will never be an investigation of that.

First we had the Mitchell report and I had the same issues with that, taxpayer dollars being spent on a drug issue in a professional sport that makes billions of dollars a year.

I think that if Arlen Spector really wants this investigation done, he should resign as senator and do it himself, if the NFL chooses to pay him, then so be it but the tax payers of this country shouldn't have to fork over a dime for this investigation of what is essentially the richest sports league in the world.
