No offense to gays but this California passing of gay marriage rights may have come at the absolute worst time if you hope to get the republicans away from the presidency.

All this does is gets the political base of the republicans talking again and brings up an issue that quite frankly should not be talked about in the political forum.

Whether or not two people can be married or not, whether gay, straight, black, white, purple or orange shouldn't matter, if two people love each other, then they should be able to have the same rights as any other couple and that is to be able to marry.

You may argue that if they are going to share the same rights then it is a political matter and I still say that it is for their respective churches to determine if they are going to marry or not, certainly not the governments.

Its a religious issue not  political one and therefore, politicians should be miles away from this issue. Now, it is the worst possible time for this to come up for democrats because it wakes up the republican right and distracts a lot of peope including eventually McCain and Obama from talking about the real issues that Obama can and will out duel McCain on in the general election including healthcare, the war and energy.

Watch for this to take shape in the coming month, next meaningless issue to rear its head will be flag burning. You watch, its Karl Rove playing his little crap tactics behind the scenes again.
