Giving You More Than Just My Two Cents
Not Impressed
The first two games of the finals between the Penguins and Red Wings has proven to be a horrible display of what the NHL should be about.
Sidney Crosby and the star studded Pittsburgh lineup has been held scoreless and even the goals that Detroit has scored have to me been of the opportunistic, ho-hum variety that result from playing a tight defensive system.
It doesn't bode well for ratings or for the fans because we don't get to see the offense the league has been preaching. The clutching has come back to an extent and the trap has reared its ugly head more than I care to see it.
I tuned in the last two games to see Pittsburgh and their stars move on the ice and score some goals, what I got was a 2 shot performance and a suffocated Pittsburgh team.
Don;t get me wrong, Detroit has done their homework and played well, but for the good of the fan, the NHL needs to find a way to open the game up yet again, otherwise, the momentum from the last few years and winning all their fans back is going to dwindle because honestly, Im becoming a Sabres fan first, NHL fan distant second because I really don't want to watch a league that is not entertaining its fans with offense.
As the offseason comes up, hopefully there are some ideas on the table to open this league up again. I have a few and as that part of the season nears, I'll be sure to put my two cents in, right now Im going to try to enjoy the rest of this finals and hope Pittsburgh can figure out a way to open things up, not for their sake, but for the sake of the league and the fans.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
