Out Of Gas
CNN has a special one hour investigation they are airing that is up to the minute. With gas averages cracking $4 last night here, I was really eager to hear the question they asked the Chevy Vice Chairman about why we are so behind in terms of energy independence.
He said the auto industry is not, they are prepared and waiting for the oil companies to take the lead. What a difference between his honesty and the round about answers from the oil executives that I watched yesterday on C-SPAN when the met with congressional and senate leaders on Wednesday. The oil executives outlooks for our energy independence are so much different and honestly none of them seemed interested in questioning about alternative fuels.
GM is ready, they have the flex fuel cars. And again I ask, if Brazil can do it why can't we? Why are we so hesitant and so unwilling to shift our energy paradigm? Why isn't the infrastructure being changed in this country.
Corn ethanol I agree is not the answer but what about a mix of ethanols? Corn, sugar, switch grass. Here's an idea, for all of us who mow our lawns, leave our clippings on the street and those can be converted to ethanol couldn't they? Why couldn't the grass clippings of our own lawns be used?
I think its embarassing the answers that were given by the oil executives, they went around the room and asked them all their salaries and none seemed to know for sure, Im sorry, but you should know how much money you make in a year when asked, its not rocket science. I know precisely how much I make and so does everyone else who cares about their jobs. After listening I trust none of them to give a straight answer.
This is a video clip from that CNN special, a real eye opener if you ask me.
