Its been awhile since I felt like saying much but so far the offseason has been decent. The draft is coming up and Im expecting a few moves out of Darcy and the Sabres.

Dimitri Kalinin not being offered a contract came as expected yet I viewed it with mixed emotions. I think they will miss Kalinin. No he wasn't a great defenseman, but he had more good games than bad and even on nights where he was a non-factor, he at least did you no harm.

I think we will look back on his departure as we did Richard Shmelik. We wanted him gone too (well most of us). Next year we are going to get to a game and wish we had Dimitri on that bench.

There remains to be a few more moves that need to happen in order to move this team forward:

1. Andrew Peters must go. Enough wasting the league minimum on this guy.

2. Max Nation must relocate. Sorry Max, we have waited long enough to see your talents not come to their full potential, we wish you luck else where, say in LA or somewhere west.

3. Teppo- It was great while it lasted, maybe there is room behind the bench.

I love the signings of the young prospects Nathan Gerbe and Tim Kennedy. I would not be surprised in the least to see more trading to shore up defensively or once Max is off the books a semi-big name free agent defenceman. or two. I also wouldn't be against trading Spacek for a prospect and turning his salary into a younger stud defenseman.
