Wang Out, And So Will Yankees

| | Comments (6)

Good news Jays fans, Chein Ming Wang will be out until at least September after injuring of all things, his foot while running the bases. Coming into this season, Wang was and should have been the ace of this staff. To this point the ace has been Mike Mussina.

If you are a Yankee fan and think that Mussina is going to pick up the slack in Wang's absence, guess again. Mussina might be having a good year, but lets face it, the guy looked washed up last year and hes 39 this year.

This pitching staff going into the season was fragile, with Wang out, barring some miracle trade, its broke and its just in time for the Jays to get the bats going and capitalize on the Yankees upcoming pitching woes. The Yankees might be able to slug their way out of a few games, but you need pitching to win.

I envy your enthusiasm regarding the Jays but remember the greatest team in baseball...the Yankees..always find a way to succeed. As for the Jays they are finished, their 15 min. was up weeks ago.

I love that you have nothing better to do as a jays fan then promote the yankees on your blog. Because the jays are so hot right now and with the dollar the way it is the jays might be able to afford a good pitcher. Stay classy Blue Jays Fan.

Three individuals, a manager, a pitching coach and a firstbase coach just became available. The jays should clean house and hire them. Maybe that would help?

This is a team game. Wang is great but they will still continue their upward movement without him. They always overcome. The Yankees are a great team. They know when to pull it together. They won tonight. The jays....well they continue their downward spiral. I am enjoying it. When the jays get a real ball diamond let me know (you know, the one made out of dirt or clay around more than the bases).

Ben, the Yankees have a history of being a great team yes, but History only does so much when your two best starters are 39 and 37 years old respectively (Pettite and Mussina). Mussina is pitching well for now but his 39 year old body will catch up to him, and Pettite has been average at best. Phillip Hughes and Ian Kennedy are both on the DL and I believe both a collective 0-7 or 0-8 somthing like that with an ERA between the two of them of 8 something. They are going to need their offense to score 10 runs a game to have any chance of competing.

Looks like the Yankees are doing just that. 5 game streak with deciseive wins. Above .500. Third place. The whole team is playing and everything is clicking. Jay are falling apart and I'm sure loving the view from the bottom. It is much of the same for them. I understand your hopeful attitude since you are a jays fan.
