Just Remember On November 4th
THIS GUY, THIS PATHETIC POWER HUNGRY JACK OFF, HIS ADMINISTRATION AND PARTY HAD THE SINGLE BIGGEST HAND IN THIS MESS.
Once again, evidence that this guy is the single worst president in the history of this country. Why we are not as citizens on the White House lawn protesting this and calling for the immediate impeachment of this administration is beyond me.
The democrats are in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. If they pass this thing and it still goes wrong or there is not enough help for "mainstreet" then they look bad, if its not passed then the market crashes.
Don't let McCain fool you either by saying that he tried to save this thing. It was republican votes not democrat votes that killed this bailout so McCain has absolutely no influence in his own party. That and the genius he has as his running mate has no clue what she is getting into.
McCain said he was rushing to Washington, cancelling appearances and ends up staying in New York City over night and left the following afternoon! Then gets there and doesn't say a word!
This thing is ugly but more so on the Republican side, there is no doubting that. They put us here with their deregulation of the markets and then the markets abused the lack of oversight this administration provided them.
This thing is screaming for an independent party to emerge, someone who is honest with the people, they need a third guy on that stage in the next two debates. This is where we throw out the two party system and get a third party involved in this thing. Because as much as I am a democrat and liberal at heart, I don't trust either side, especially the Republicans.
The republicans voted this thing down because they are scared to death of voting for it and then seeing that the followed another failed Bush policy. They have been following him for the last 8 years and its finally starting to come to a head.

“New York city fat-cats expect Joe Sixpack to suck it up and foot the bill for their excesses. I think not,” said Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., said he had three insurmountable problems with the bill: It was too expensive, it rewarded Wall Street firms by guaranteeing private profits with public funds and it did not address an antiquated regulatory system. “This throws a life jacket to Wall Street, but it doesn’t teach them to swim and prevent this from happening again,” Kingston said.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., called her decision to vote no “one of the most difficult I have faced.”
“I agree this bill is much better than the one we started with,” McMorris Rodgers said. But “committing 700 billion of our tax dollars requires a longer, more thoughtful debate.”
Why do you turn everything into a dem vs. repub thing? I think that thought process by the American people is what has gotten us into a number of messes with no solutions other than passing the buck to the tax payors. This has nothing to do with dems or repus but a system as a whole that is failing. The markets were not de-regulated. The system in place is antiquated with tons of loopholes. I think as Americans we need to start depending less on all aspects of govt., whoever you support, to "fix" everything and start taking some responsability.
If you want to look at dems vs. repub and even throw in the 3rd party thing, The dems have enough of a majority that if they trully believed in this bill it would have passed regardless.
It's good that it didn't. This is The House of Representatives and in my opinion they represented what the majority of most Americans feel. I just hope this wasn't a NRA type move, put the extreme in front of everyone so we can pass something that will still get us what we want. In this case an expensive bailout with private money that you and I will pay for.
Buffalo Boy you are wrong AGAIN!! Congress failed to vote on a regulation package twice. Bush (who is a moron) attempted twice to increase regulations, but the democrazy led congress would not vote on either package. DO YOUR RESEARCH> STOP WATCHING 24 Hr. NEWS!!!
yes because there was not enough oversight in the bill!
Here is an eye opener. Both parties have recieved money from the financial sector, but The republicans have taken WAY more than the democrats

YOU ARE ALL WRONG> This started durring the Clinton admin. It is where true unchecked liberalism will takes us. It started when he decided to allow the minoritites in the country to take sub prime loans in an attempt to gain their votes, I mean provide them with housing. Well now they all have a house, cars, want more and more but have no means to pay for anything. They can't afford to maintain homes and cars so they continue to take loans they will never pay back. The interesting part is that the banks were told if they don't participate when they apply for expansion applications they would be denied. Now the Dems are not the only ones at fault the republicans let it go on as well. I agree with writer above. This is a sign of a systimatic failure. Lets all hope only those worthy of credit will be getting it once this minor correction has occured.
There is a simple one word fix t this mess the demowhacks have created...RENT
Actually, fixing the mess is as simple as letting the buyers renegoiate their mortgages with their lenders instead of forclosing on them and kicking them out of their homes. The homes that people are losing are worth way more to the original homeowner than they are to the bank that takes the home back. Let these people renegotiate their deals and make it affordable for them to stay in their homes. Then even though its not the ideal situation fo the bank, at least they are getting paid on the original loan and not holding onto a bad asset.
I vote they lose their homes.
Thats a heartless and irresponsible position to take
