More Global Warming Evidence

Here is another article that highlights the recent warming and depletion of the necessary glaciers in the Arctic and Greenland. Significant melthing has continued this summer and much of what has fallen off is not replaceable due to warming temperatures. The piece in this article is the size of Manhattan and over 4500 years old.
Once the Arctic sea ice is gone we lose the "air conditioner" for the northern hemisphere. The ice that reflects sun light and prevents warming gives way to water which absorbs more of the suns warming rays. Every time a piece like that breaks off its a piece of a valuable eco-system and contributes to more warming by opening up more heat absorbing water. There is also algae in this ice that helps in reducing CO2 by absorbing CO2 out of the atmosphere. All this and yet here is Ms. Palin suggesting we drill, drill, drill up there. Great. Yet another example of this woman's intentions.

As I said in the past...WNY will be a great place to live some day. I'm going to plant a palm tree in my yard.
Someone please tell this guy the globe has been warming sice the last ice age, thats why it ended. Nothing can be done to stop it so enjoy life to the fullest.
You my friend are wrong, the earth has gone through normal cooling and warming cycles that is correct, however, we have warmed significantly since the industrial revolution. It is PROVEN that warming trends and cooling trends mirror CO2 content in the atmosphere. It is PROVEN that CO2 has increased exponentially since 1900 and at this time is significantly HiGHER than at any other time in the history of this earth.
Read the scientific evidence. At no time has the Arctic ice receded this much. The ice that is being lost is thousands of years old, much dates back several ice ages. The earth has had mini-ice ages since the last iceage but the warming trend that we are seeing is due to the significant increases in CO2 and other global warming gases.
Take a look at Venus, what makes that planet unliveable is its atmospheric CO2. making the planet too hot for anything to live there.
CO2 works to insulsate the earth and does not let heat escape, its science my friend and the majority of scientists are in agreement, why do conservatives and republicans have to dispute this?
Right and this winter it will cool again.
Mike- Unfortunately we have no reliable scientific data to prove that this is the most significant, shortest-term warming in history. No one can *prove* that global warming is a direct result of human activity. There was a period of time around 1000 A.D. that some scientists believe was the hottest on record and the world's population was a fraction of what it is today and industry was nil.
What people need to do is move forward instead of placing blame. We should go to cleaner energy alternatives not because of "global warming" but because we have the technology and wherewithal to do so. We should recycle because we should recycle, not because we have to combat a largely unsubstantiated fear-mongering claim.
Mother nature will always win. You could build 6.5 Billion 1000 sq.ft. apartment buildings and house everyone on earth within the borders of Texas with 650 Billion sq.ft. of land to spare. Texas itself covers a mere .13% of the Earth's surface. When you put it in perspective, we don't really exert an awful lot of influence on anything.
Arm yourselves with lemon and butter....again!! The world is coming to and end!! Oh what a world. The ice is melting, the temps are rising, it is all your fault. Al Gore created global warming (and the internet) to suck more money out of everyone, line his pockets and expand governments control. There is no credible data that what is occuring now is anything more extreme than what has occured in the past. The data that exists is a small snap shot invented to create panic and feed the drive bye media machine, ice bores and all. I don't see anyone else bringing any political parties into the argument...hmmm..who is the one who can't seem to think for ones self.
