Blue Jackets 6, Sabres 1
Look at the score and it looks like a downright blowout. If you went to the game like I did and you know that Columbus took advantage of the 6 total scoring chances they had. Those chances were due to poor defensive play in the Buffalo end.
The Sabres offensively played well, after two periods the shots on goal were 28-10 in favor of Buffalo and Buffalo was out hitting Columbus 21-6. The only difference was Columbus netted 4 out of their first ten shots.
It was one of those nights. The goals that went in were not the goaltenders fault (Patrick Lalime) with the exception of one miscue.
There were a few stretches when Sabres just dominated but Columbus did a great job of boxing out and keeping Buffalo off the rebounds that were given up.
One frustrating thing is the lack of finish from Max Nation. Once again he had several chances and failed to net a goal. Vanek and Roy also had numberous chances and failed to finish.
One question I did have for Lindy Ruff was why the hell hes starting the fourth line? Andrew Peters is a waste of space on the ice and needs to find himself scratched more in favor of Patrick Kaleta or even waived so that this team can bring up Mark Mancari who tearing up the AHL.
