Good Bye AJ

Burnett

Tomorrow I fully expect to come home to the news that some rich Major League Baseball team has signed AJ Burnett to an excessive contract that he will never earn. Tomorrow is the first day that free agents can sign with another club. With limited pitching out there, AJ along with others will be way over priced. He will probably go somewhere around $15-18 million a season. Too much for him.

He spent three years in Toronto and hardly earned the $11 million per season he was earning here only starting 21 and 25 games each of his first two years. This past season was his first truly injury free season in Toronto and to me, if he were honorable, he would play out the contract he signed.

He's not worth a penny more of what he has been making and up until this past year he really is not a proven 15 game winner in this league. He has averaged 10-12 wins a year even in seasons he has been healthy.

So, he will sign a contract tomorrow, probably not with the Jays, hopefully not with the Yankees, and quite possibly with the LA Angels or Baltimore Orioles. One thing is for sure, who ever signs him, is most likely over paying for him.
