Giving You More Than Just My Two Cents
Sabres 4, Penguins 3
Before going into this week my first thought was that the Sabres had to take 2 of 3 to have any hopes of staying in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Anything less than that and they would fall further behind a conference that is a tough one to catch up to once you get behind. We saw that all last year.
So, last night against Pittsburgh was enormous because the last thing you want to do is have to win the third game of three games in four nights.
It was a nail biter but Ryan Miller seems to have re-focused himself the last few games and has played strong in goal. Paul Gaustad and Drew Stafford provided the four goals as the Sabres banged their way to a big, big win.
It was a nice game to see too as Gaustad had yet to score this year and to see him get two was nice, even nicer was to see Drew Stafford have a two goal, three point game. He in my mind is the future leader of this team. He seems to have found a place skating on a line with Vanek and Roy again which is right where he should be.
Whats even more is that this team came back to win. At one point they were down 3-2. The win leaves us still in 9th but just one point out of a playoff spot and it also provides some breathing room between us and 10th place now 5 points ahead of both Ottawa, Toronto and the NY Islanders (how the hell are the Islanders not in dead last?).
Next up: Montreal tonight, time to get greedy and go for at least a point if not the win tonight. Im going to continue using the old logo since using it the last night extended the winning to two games. (call me superstitious)
