Wendel to the Rafters
The Toronto Maple Leafs have always been my second favorite team in the NHL. I grew up with the Sabres and the Leafs. The Leafs were a distant second but when the Leafs were in the old Campbell Conference and the Sabres in the Prince of Wales, I could easily get away with being a fan of both.
Back in the 80's the Leafs had some pretty bad teams but they had a few years in the early 90's when they were contenders. One of the highlight reels of those 80's and early 90's teams was Wendel Clark.
Tonight they will be celebrating all things Wendel tonight including fake Wendel Mustaches. He was one of the toughest players that ever wore a Leaf jersey and his legend tonight will reach the rafters of the ACC. I hope this one is on the NHL network tonight, Im going to watch the raising of Wendel before tuning back to the Sabres game. The closest to Wendel you could get in a Sabres uniform was probably Jim Schonfeld.
