The Dara Story Continues

 Dara Torres

Dara Torres inspired many around the world this past summer. At 41 and nearly 8 years removed from her last Olympics, Dara came back and swam in the Olympics in Bejing and accomplished something few could even dream of. She captured silver in the 50 free and then came back in the 400 meter freestyle relay and swam the fastest split ever.

You would think after that, she would be happy. She was successful in her comeback, she could move on and continue being a great mother and inspiration to her daughter.

Well, she's not done. She is going for the 2009 World Championships in Rome. She will be 42. She continues to train 5 days a week and continues to amaze everyone. 2008 has truly been a banner year for US swimming. Michael Phelps won sportsman of the year and if I had my pick, Dara would have Sportswoman of the year.

Stay tuned, because this truly inpiring athlete is still in a position to provide some special moments in the sports world. As nice as Phelps story is, Dara's is one that rivals Phelps.
