Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay for plagiarism. Apparently Coldplay's Viva La Vida is very similar to a chord progression in Joe Satriani's If I Could Fly which was released in 2004.

I know you can plagiarize a melody but a guitar solo? I am trying to be impartial here. I am a huge fan of Joe Satriani and I do like some of Coldplay's stuff but I have had trouble trying to get into Viva La Vida, I keep thinking of Ricky Martin's Living La Vida Loca or what ever trash that Ricky did.

I'll let the readers judge the extent of the plagiarism, in the mean time I think if anything Coldplay should be guilty of naming their song after a Ricky Martin song.
