The political divide is so great in this country right now and it's not just the ignorance of the half-wits featured in this documentary, it's the ignorance of any hard-lined political view whether it be left or right, liberal or conservative. Thomas Jefferson envisioned the two-party system one day being the destructor of the American republic. We're well on our way.
Social and moral issues never should have been tied into the political parties. Since when did being a democrat mean I have to support gay marriage? I don't. Since when did being a democrat mean I wanted to repeal the 2nd amendment? I don't.. and I am a gun owner. Since when did being a democrat mean I'm pro abortion? I'm not. I'm anti-anti-abortion... the people who can think for themselves can figure that one out.
I'm a democrat because I think domestic, fiscal, and foreign policy stand a better chance when the democrats are in office. That's what matters to me from a political viewpoint, and I hate the fact that my party gets blamed for being the party of the social scumbags, and the destroyers of the American family. It used to be possible to be conservative and be a democrat, but that's been ruined by the Hollywood, media, and gay rights triumvirate that has eeked their way into mainstream culture since the late 1980s.
F--- politics. The whole thing is broken at every level, from municipalities to the states to the nation. The country needs a massive upheaval. Maybe the financial crisis is the tip of the iceberg. Americans cannot take it any longer.
