The Definitive CFNY ARB List

Okay, this post is for fans of CFNY 102.1. Not the station in its current form, but for the old school folks. I have had this playlist sitting around on my ITunes playlist for a few months and I haven't really bothered to add to it but the thought has intrigued me.
There used to be a time years back when I would race to the radio on the weekends in the morning to listen the All Request Breakfast on CFNY. IT was different back then. There were songs requested that you wouldn't hear Monday through Friday. Those 3-4 hours on Saturday/Sunday mornings belonged to the fans.
Pete Fowler used to host it and then slowly over the years it lost its luster and recently those requests aren't as classic as they used to be and its not the same on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I have started a list, I started with five songs, I want to turn this list into 20 songs that could be the definitive All Request Breakfast on CFNY:

The Extras - Circular Impression
Tones on Tail - Go
Public Image Limited - Rise
Depeche Mode - People are People
Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi is Dead
I like the PIL and DM, Bela seems more like Sunday night with Martin
Bruce Cockburn- If I had a Rocket Launcher
Gowan- Criminal Mind, Strange Animal
I forgot all about Gowan, Cockburn is good too.....Strange Animal is definitely making the list.
I am adding Flesh For Lulu's- I go Crazy
Cross Eyed and Painless by the Talking Heads was played everytime it was requested.
I remember that song being played a bit, of all the TH tunes that one was requested more often than not too. Great track for casual TH fans when they dig a little deeper that is a stand out song.
I'm liking this so far...
How about
Parachute Club - Rise Up
Martha and the Muffins - Echo Beach
Erasure - Sometimes / A Little Respect
Pet Shop Boys - Always on my Mind
Damn, that Flesh for Lulu was a good call...
Almost forgot
Housemartins - Happy Hour
How about Sugarcubes and The Sundays Here's Where The Story Ends
I am liking all of those, We want to becareful though, this is not a Retro with Martin Streek thing,
Echo Beach is perfect.
I found a site that we could draw from as well
Rare 1980's MP3 of the week, Ill post the site
Captain Sensible-WOT BB Gabor- Moscow Drug Club Mike Oldfield-Five Miles Out Peter Schilling- Major Tom Split Enz- Six Months in a Leaky Boat The Stranglers-Always The Sun They Might Be Giants-Istanbul not Constantinople Trio-DA DA DA The Demics-New York City Trans X- Living on Video
Solid choices there Rob, The Demics is a song that you rarely hear anymore.
Da Da Da for sure and Ill have to check out that Split Enz tune. Have not heard it or if I have don't recognize the song.
TMBG didn't think of that but I remember hearing that quite a big on the Breakfast.
Split Enz became Crowded House..
One more... Fish Heads by Wildman Fischer
Capt Sensible - WOT is a great choice
I Youtubed Fish Heads for my kids a couple of months ago, they howled - great video as well!
I loved Fotzepolitic by the Cocteau Twins for an early morning request.
Two more that are definites on the list, we may have to do a volume 2
Delerium- Flowers Become Screams
Ashley Macissac- Sleep Maggie
Stan Ridgeway-Camoflage
Oh ya, I had to Goggle this one..Nobby Clegg-My Old Man, you can find it on You Tube..a classic CFNY song...
This is too much fun!! The Box from Montreal 'L' Affaire Dumoutier' and Closer Together...Flash and The Pan- Hey St. Peter.....Pete Townsend- Face to Face..Kid Creole and The Cocconuts-Endicote....Billy Bragg-A New England....Grace Jones- Slave to The Rhythm...Jon and Vangelis-Friends of Mr Cairo...Phew!!!
