Giving You More Than Just My Two Cents
This Is Not What We Want
This is not the healtcare bill millions of Americans want to see. Apparently law makers think it would be fun to fine people in a new healthcare bill if they choose not to buy "affordable" health insurance.
Come on, if these clowns in Washington can't come up with something better than this the people need to march on Washington and demand a special election to get them all out and that includes Barack Obama, the republicans, democrats and every other crooked bastard in that city
What good is a fine going to do? If someone can't afford it now, what makes them think a fine is going to get them any closer to being able to afford healthcare?
Whats affordable according to our lawmakers in Washington? They all get healh insurance for free, so tell us what "affordable" is. This is not single payer and if you are defining affordable based on what private companies charge now, thats not affordable.
I just lost my health insurance because we got a COBRA bill for $987 per month. My employer was willing to pay $387 per month for my wife to have coverage, there is no way I can afford the remaining $600 per month to cover me so I declined it. Go ahead fine me for it and see what happens. I won't pay the fine because I couldn't afford the huge insurance premium.
Go back to the table and come back with something that doesn't punish people. I can see the reason for fining people for no auto insurance, we need it in case someone is hurt in an accident, liability, it makes sense, me not getting health insurance hurts no one, other than the fact that people who do have it have to pay more because I can't afford to pay my doctor bill, therefore, costs go up.
The private insurance companies got us here, they raised rates and denied coverage to people to the point where people either A) couldn't afford it or B) people can't get coverage due to pre-existing conditions. Where is the end? If this bill passes, Im moving to Canada.

Mike, it's obvious that you think Canada is the "promised land" anyway. Don't let the door hit you on the way out :)
All kidding aside, the crooks in Washington aren't going to address the needs of the country. Which is another reason not to let them be in charge of healthcare. They can't even figure out what's best for Americans let alone give them the responsibility of running the system.
It blows, we're a country on a downfall period right now, and maybe it's time for a revolution. I don't agree with half the things you write, but I do agree we need more change, almost revolutionary change, to get this country back on track. Look at NYS for Christ sake. Are you kidding me? We're the worst state in the nation and they're fighting over office space. Some faction should take over Albany with an arsenal of Uzi's and hand grenades. They're pathetic.
You know what though, if you think it's so bad then move to Canada. You know what they say, the grass is always greener. You're too anti-American right now to have a clear opinion about anything. It's not that bad here all things aside. It's just how much you let it bother you. Join the apathetic dark side. The "what? who cares? not me" side. I've got low blood pressure, a resting heart rate to rival Lance, and haven't lost a minute of sleep over politics since I gave up caring after W. 2000. It's a great feeling.
Rob, this is from the Physicians for a National Health Program, its a page of facts and myths about universal Single payer healthcare.
Check it out
This isn't just me who is banging the drums for this, its 72% of Americans who want some sort of national program.
Why does it bother me so much? Because as of last week I became one of the uninsured in this country. I dont have health insurance. My wife was terminated for the summer and we thought we were getting the discounted COBRA, her job screwed her and we had to come up with $987 per month for Family coverage, she only makes $20,000 a year and her insurance payment would come up to $11,000? thats outrageous...There is no way for us to afford that, so we had to make a choice and the choice was easy because she is pregnant, she gets the single coverage until the fall which is still a whopping $387 per month, thats more than her car payment.

There are a ton of resources on the site and its right from those working in the trenches, the physicians.
Yes Rick, the grass is really green up here. Thank God the all mighty buck does NOT apply praying on the weak, sick and hungry. We force our governments to be compassionate!
Mike, the folks who want it are going to have to force the issue then. If 72% of Americans truly want it, then it will get done. Washington hasn't operated in the best interests of anyone for some time now and it's unlikely to happen soon without a revolution.
Only in America does it pay to be either dirt poor or filthy rich. Middle class gets the pole in the arse over and over. Whether it's health insurance, securing a mortgage, or paying for college, you'd be better off making minimum wage and living on welfare. Only in America.
Rob that is why my other belief is that we need a third party in this country, one that is owned and operated exclusively by the middle class, one that does not listen or take money from lobbyists, but donations from those it will serve, one that will be fair to all Americans whether rich, poor or in the middle. I say fair, but not in the way that most people think, Fair is fair, but fair is not always equal. The Rich should pay more in taxes because they have it to give, the poor should get benefits to help them get out of their ugly spot they are in, and the middle class should be taken care of because the fact is no country is strong without a healthy, thriving middle class. notice the word healthy.
No nation can be strong without a heatlhy and educated population.
It should be a party where you don't have to be rich to have a voice, and you certainly don't have to be rich to be president which since day one of this country EVERY president has had to be before they ran for PResident, Rich.
Rob I can't be as gentle as you. Buffboy you need to work for what you want, have, and get. It will never be given to you no matter how universal, standardized or whatever other lies you believe, or want to make your reality. This fucking govt you voted for has done nothing, will do nothing, and has provided nothing more than empty media driven promises that your kind of people eating from the trough love, but gain nothing from. It does however keep you watching the news stories and adds they love you to see. To bad your are so focused on this country failing for your own benefit. Makes me sick to be honest. Just hope if you have children or are planning to have children you let them decide how they should live their lives. Communism is passed through the generations I am told. Get an education (non union), get a job, earn a living...NOTHING IS EVER FREE!! I'll extend you a line of credit if you need it... :)
