Giving You More Than Just My Two Cents
Sunday Retro Capsule
Im going to start doing what I will call Sunday Retro Capsules, showcasing some of my favorite Retro bands and featuring more than one song/video. This week I figured I would go with one of my favorite 80's groups who honestly i don't include as much as I could in Sunday Retro posts.</p>
The Cure first caught my attention like a lot of fans with their 1987 double LP Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, which included their all time classic Just Like Heaven. I was just getting out of my "Top 40" phase as a kid and getting into some more eclectic music and the Cure fit the bill. I soon discovered what I believe to be their best record Head on the Door which featured Push, Inbetween Days and Close To Me.
What I have always liked about The Cure is they can range from what most people mis-label them as gothic to very pop sounding to downright moody and angry.
They are still going strong today with three new records since 2000 including their latest 4:13 Dream which they toured on extensively. Robert Smith who is essentially "The Cure" has featured 11 members not including himself over they years though bassist Simon Gallup has essentially been a mainstay.
The Cure's influence can be seen in bands like Korn, My Chemical Romance, My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai and Evanescence.
