NBA Violence

Fred Patterson on his website Canadian Thinker just posted a comment about Washington Wizard teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton which I found extremely interesting. Fred and I share the same view on this. We have witnessed a lot of violence in pro sports over the years especially in the NFL and the way the violent individuals are gently slapped on the wrist and allowed back into a position that few of us could even dream of.
Arenas and Crittenton pulled guns on each other according to reports in the Wizards dressing room. Did you get that? The DRESSING ROOM! In the arena where fans, media and innocent people were present.
Im no fan of the NBA, I wan't before the Spreewell choking incident and since that incident I have had no respect for the league and the way that it was handled. Spreewell choked his boss and yet was allowed to return, how is that even possible? You or I do that and we never work again. Since then, I wouldn't watch or attend an NBA game if it were being played across the street and admission were free.
Its not just the NBA, Michael Vick who Im still hoping ends up getting his head knocked off his shoulders by a large defensive lineman because his punishment by the league was pathetic, yes he served jail time but I guarantee you that if you were arrested and convicted of dog fighting charges and funding the operation and went back to your former employer after getting out of jail you and I would be laughed at and escorted out.
Those are just a few of the bigger name stories. These two idiots from the Wizards are not exactly household names but never the less they should be out for life. They brought lethal weapons to a public arena! Apparently this is not the exception and apparently there is more of this gun toting lunacy in the NBA for "self defense".
I am a firm believer that guns don't make anyone safer. And if they need them for self defense I suppose you have to ask where they are hanging out that requires a gun for self defense? Self defense is only necessary if you are hanging out in seedy neighborhoods. I could understand the argument for someone on the eastside of Buffalo needing a gun in their home for self defense, someone on Grand Island or Amherst forget it, what do you need a gun for? Thats beside the point.
The fact is, I am on board with Fred, these two idiots should be shown the door and told to go find a profession that allows that kind of potentially lethal behavior.
Maybe pro leagues should be more proactive with players as rookies and provide a bit more support and orientation to players who frequently come into these leagues making millions after coming from poor socio-economic backgrounds into a lifestyle that affords them the means to get into trouble just as much as it affords them the ability to stay out of their former lives. Maybe the leagues should prepare them for what they are getting into and reinforce the fact that if you get yourself into trouble your not welcome back into this priviledged lifestyle.

Hello from Norway. Good blog.
Hi, great info! Is it ok if I use this to write a article? If not just send me an email.
I know it will be cliche to quote Tina Turner songs... but this is "simply the best"! I swear by this like a religious zealot!
