Stevie Needs Some Dough

Steven Baldwin is going broke. What a travesty. Hes a self proclaimed Christian actor who needs us to bail him out. Im not even going to grace this post with a picture of his mug.

My first question is ....why? What has Steven Baldwin done that deserves to be bailed out besides star in (if you could call him a star) a bunch of shitty B movies and crappy television shows?

I don't think Stevie gets how this bailout game works. See you have to have something that people need, and quite frankly Steve, you suck as an actor.

In addition to that, if the bank of Stevie goes down its no skin off my back. Why should I give a crap if someone like Stevie who has probably had more money than I will ever see despite being a crappy actor blew his wad? And what gives him the right as a so called Christian to ask for hand outs from ordinary people like me and you?

Here is my advice Steve, go walk barefoot around the country in robes like Jesus would have done, you might get farther that way, Jesus would never do what you are doing, quite frankly its embarassing, better yet....isn't your brother Alec floating in money? Go see him.

They Have No Clue How Big It Would Have To Be

Noah's Ark

A Christian team of of scientists, for the sake of this blog we will call them crazy ass whack jobs with no life, actually think they found Noah;s Ark.

They THINK they found it on top of a mountain in Turkey. Of course they say they have used carbon dating which they now believe in. Talk to any crazy ass whack job when carbon dating is used to date planet earth and they will tell you its an inexact science, but for finding "Noah's Ark" all of a sudden it works.

I have news for them, they can stop looking. Its not there and its not any where. Every educated scientist besides them is telling them to stop wasting their time and they are giving their scientific reasons why. I am going to give my rather unscientifc, yet logical reason why. I say logical because logic is something that the obscenely devote Christians just don't have. They don't get that Noah's Ark was a fairy tale to teach people to take care of mother nature. IT wasn't real.

Does anyone realize how fucking big that boat would have to be? EVERY SINGLE SPECIES....anyone know how many species of animals there are? Not to mention the amount of food that ark would have needed on board to feed the millions of species on board the ark? Its not the fucking ark so go home and find a new thing to go look for like the Lochness monster, now thats real. There is video of it:

Couldn't Find a Better Summer Song?

I just saw the Kingsford Charcoal commercial featuring of all songs to represent summer....The Human League's Fascination.....because as we know nothing quite says summer like ...The Human League. I like the song, The Human League had a few decent tunes back in the day and I still dig them now every once in a great while but why a re-done 80's new wave dance hit?

The Original, such a summer hit! Not exactly what I'd call summer grilling tunes:

.500 April? Not Bad Considering....

Present Jays Logo

If someone told Jays fans that The Toronto Blue Jays would be .500 for the first month of the season we probably would have taken it. Well, with about 3 games left to go thats exactly what they can do.

Not only are they .500 but the following things are turning out okay:

1. Vernon Wells is having a solid start to the season and might just stay healthy. This was one of my keys to the season.

2. Aaron Hill is back in the lineup.

3. All five Toronto starters have pitched at least one very good quality start. Thats a major accomplishment. All five guys in the rotation from Marcum to Eveland have shown that they have the stuff to stay in the rotation. Even better news is that Ricky Romero is no flash in the pan rookie, hes here to stay and he would have 4 wins already if not for the offensive woes during his starts.

4. The bullpen while not sensational is solid and we have a closer in Kevin Gregg that if not a long term option is a short term solution to the lack of a solid closer, he at least looks the role when he takes the mound.

5. Lyle Overbay while off to a horrendous start is starting to get luke warm, I say this as a good thing because if he keeps getting warmer at the plate maybe, just maybe we can get him out of Toronto and trade him to someone and get Brett Wallace up to the big show.

6. We have a legit leadoff hitter in Fred Lewis. A guy with some speed in the lineup who might steal more than 10 bases. Say it ain't so?

Of course there are some bad things:

1. So far Travis Snider ain't cutting it...a trip back to the minors looks to be inevitable.

2. While the power numbers are up and guys like Wells and Alex Gonzalez are crushing the ball, so too are strikeouts, we lead the league as a team in strikeouts.

Still a lot has to go right for this team to stay this way but not bad considering we traded away our best player in franchise history we ain't half bad.

Drill Baby, Spill....Oops....

Oil rig explosion

I haven't been writing alot recently because my computer crashed and I had to invest in a new one, so I have been sitting back watching the news and the oil rig accident off the coast of Louisiana should be a big reason why the Drill Baby Drill right wing folks need to stick a sock in it and get on board with renewable energy and making this country not just less dependent on foreign oil but less dependent on oil period.

One accident in the Gulf of Mexico threatens hundreds of miles of coastline and believe me tourists don't travel there to see oil slicks and oil covered wildlife/beaches. Not to mention the fishing industry, yeah they want to burn this off but that is a last ditch effort and lets face it, lighting water on fire propbably isn't going to help the wildlife in that part of the gulf much.

All reports I have seen have this well leaking for weeks if not months before its finally shut off, that can't be a good sign for the entire gulf coast. They should probably make sure this thing is taken care of before hurrican season because get one good hurricane through there and you'll have a real mess. If we don't take a lesson from another environmentally catastrophic oil spill then maybe this will get us thinking again:

Gas prices are now averaging over $3 per gallon again for ALL grades in Western New York. Where is the electric car?

Do You Wanna Dance?

An underrated song over the years that has been covered by numerous artists including The Ramones and The Beach Boys. It was originally recorded in 1958 by Bobby Freeman who had Jerry Garcia record the guitar tracks for the original version.

Do You Wanna Dance? was also the highest charting song peaking at #12 on the charts to feature Dennis Wilson on lead vocals. To this day Dennis Wilson to me was the most under appreciated Beach Boy and underrated drummers of his time and maybe rivaled Brian Wilson in musical ability/talent.

The Bobby Freeman Version:

The Beach Boys, my favorite version released in 1965:

The Ramones version released in 1977:

These were not the only versions of this song, it was also covered by Bette Midler, Eddie Cochran, The Mamas and the Papas sampled a piece of the song in their song "Maple Leaves", Johnny Rivers, John Lennon, T. Rex, Ray Stevens, Neil Young would cover it live in the early 80's and there were other versions floating around as well by lesser known artists.

Heads Should Roll

Sabres Logo

I'm sorry but I saw this coming from a mile away which is why I refused to get my hopes up too much. Sure I rooted just as hard as I always do for this team but you could see this result in the playoffs coming since the west coast trip just before the Olympic break. This team didn't have what it took to play in the playoffs.

We were undersized and overmatched on special teams against a bigger and more aggressive Bruins team. We have to see things change in the offseason and why not start now, the changes are obvious:

I am not asking for Lindy Ruff's head but someone on his coaching staff needs to answer for why they were 0 for the series on the power play. Thomas Vanek being out since game two doesn't cut it either. They had plenty of chance and it didn't get done.

While we are on the topic of special teams, the penalty kill fell apart too, from one of the best in the league to running at less than 70% efficient in the first round.

Awful power play + bad penalty kill= early first round exit from playoffs. Im no coach or analyst but it doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

We were oversized and it showed especially guys like Roy, Connolly and Pominville who seemed lost at times. Roy and Connolly especially disappeared. Pominville I can at least say was throwing some checks and hitting some people but Roy and Connolly seemed to shy away from contact and continued making the fancy passes instead of challenging Tuuka Rask with shots.

We have one too many of those fancy, dipsy-doodle type play makers on this team and whether its at draft time to trade up or at some point over the summer one of not a few of them needs to go and we need to get bigger and tougher upfront while maintaining some scoring up front. If I had my pick Connolly would find a new home this summer, I think Roy can play grittier than he showed.

We were too young as well. Tyler Ennis, Gerbe, McCormick and Kennedy all looked like boys at some point playing amongst men. It was a valuable 6 games or so that will hopefully give them a taste of it to savor for next year. Even Tyler Myers who came up this year and played a full season at 19 years old and should win the Calder Trophy easily looked just awe struck at times.

The NHL Rules Strike Again

View Image

This is exactly why the NHL will NEVER be a legitimate sports league in North America. Maybe only in Canada can you guys put up with bush league rules that only apply to the non-elite players but Zdeno Chara not drawing the one game instigator suspension from last nights game is laughable.

Why have the rule if the league gives themselves an out to enforce it? This leaves it wide open now for some nastiness next game and I hope Chara wears his mask because any chance Sabre players get to take a swipe at his ugly mug they should try to clip his nose clean off his face.

The high sticking infractions missed by the inept officials alone last night would have been enough to have Chara in the box for at least a full period of the next game.

My problem with this is that its a rule but it doesn't necessarily have to be enforced...Chara, Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, Alfredsson, and Spezza probably would never be suspended, them and a select few other players around the league are the so called "elite" players. I guarantee that if it was Gaustad who threw the first punches hes sitting out on Monday, the league is full of crap just like its commissioner.

Either enforce the rule or don't. The NHL is a bush league and always will be until it has the spine to really enforce rules. Otherwise, take the instigator rule out and lets see the players enforce it in game 6 on Monday. Chara's actions could have resulted in a serious injury, Gaustad wasn't expecting Chara to start throwing his meat hooks at him. We have seen the injuries over the years of playes who unknowingly get hit with punches whether from behind or square in the face, its not pretty. So the league set the standard,

I say they take the officials off the ice because now its in the players hands, the league failed to do their job and in the old days Chara's nose job would have to be re-done come Monday night. Its war and the league made it that way. Put you mask back on Chara you are going to need it Monday.

Boston Babies Beaten By Buffalo

Chara

We aren't done yet, not here, not on our home ice. I hate the Bruins, I hate them and their fans. Its been awhile since I have felt a good hate for this team and the last four games got that hate really stirred up and tonight Zdeno Chara really proved why my nickname for them, "The Boston Babies" holds up.

Chara threw a hissy fit with .2 seconds remaining tonight and should get suspended for game 6. There is no way the instigator rule should be rescinded in this case it was an obvious case of a player going after someone out of frustration and its obvious Chara was playing the part of the sore loser.

With his team up 3-2 in the series even with the Sabres winning Chara now stands to cost his team game 6 and having them come back to Buffalo.

If the NHL is serious about enforcing its rules like they are the hits from behind then they cannot rescind this. Chara should sit for being an asshole. He may be the best defenseman on the ice but hes also the biggest loser.

Only one thing was missing though, I wish Miller would have thrown a right hook at Satan in that pile. He had Satan lined up, he could have given him a blocker shot to the temple. He didn't though because the ultimate right hook will be Buffalo beating a Chara-less Bruins team in game 6. Way to go Ape Man.

She Can't Be Serious: Bartering for Healthcare????

This has seriously got to be disturbing for healthcare providers across the country if this Sue Lowden is serious. She is running for Harry Reid's senate seat in Nevada. I don't know what part of Nevada she is from but they must not have running water or electricity yet because this clueless bimbo is still back in the 1800's.

Her ideas on healthcare instead of what was just passed for healthcare reform? Bartering. Thats right...if someone can't afford to pay for their healthcare they can trade something for their healthcare services they get like a ....get this...a chicken.......

Im a physical therapist who enjoys getting paid in cash, not in someones old trash they want to trade me instead of my hard earned pay check. If someones livestock is accepted payment on my mortgage in 2010 I say great idea. But something tells me when I go to pay my national fuel bill they won't accept Mrs. Smith's quilt she just made as payment on my heat bill.

If this Sue Lowden keeps up this crazy talk I hope voters send her a nice little message and send Harry Reid back to the senate.

First Round: Bring on the Bruins

Chara

Okay, its not the Habs, they will have their hands full with Washington, but it is still an old time Adam's Division rivalry and it will be just as nice to hate the Bruins again.

Its been awhile since we met them in the playoffs. Here are some key moments in the rivalry between these two teams starting with the most famous possibly, December 13th 1972, through the zamboni entrance:

April 6th 1988, this was a series full of brawls and bad blood:

Beer is thrown at Foligno by Bruins fans same series:

Back in Buffalo, Sabre Fans respond in kind:

Rob Ray with hit on Cam Neely turned into a scruff with Brent Hughes:

From the 97/98 season Ray and Baumgartner and Primeau and Hal Gill:

And of course, who can forget, the night we got the monkey off our back and got through the first round "May Day, May Day, May Day!!" game four Brad May overtime goal completed the sweep

Its time to seriously dislike these guys again! Lets go Buffalo!

Obama Strikes Back

Just showing the composure he did was enough. you could tell by his body language that Obama held back from saying what he really wanted to in this clip but he said enough.

What makes Sarah Palin all of a sudden an expert on "nucular" weapons as she pronounces it? Because she can see Russia from her porch? Maybe its from her half term as Governor of one of the smallest states in terms of population in the entire country. Does experience at quitting make you an expert on nuclear weapons?

Last we checked Sarah Palin doesn't realize that Obama is just carrying out what the Republican's hero Ronald Reagan wanted....to elimate all nuclear weapons....if Palin runs in 2012, Im running this clip every week on the blog.

Johnny Rotten on Fox News???

I was looking for a response from Johnny Lydon aka Rotten on McLaren's death and it was there, just on Fox News? Yikes.

Anyway, in addition to him commenting on the death of McLaren, Lydon hinted at yes, the reforming and tour with PiL? I'd sign up for that.

Glenn Beck is a Sick Bastard

At what point does Fox News determine that Glenn Beck has crossed the line? Seriously, is it okay to threaten to poison a political leader on national TV now? He'd tell you he was joking but I don't think that is something you joke about.

Knowing Beck, deep down, he probably wasn't joking. This guy crys when he takes a crap hes so emotionally cracked up so who knows what this turd of a human is thinking. Check out this pathetic excuse for a political talk show:

Refreshing the Repukes Memory

There is no debating that Barack Obama's latest move is a good one, How could reducing nuclear weapons with Russia not be good? How could it not be a good move to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons around the world?

Here is Barack Obama speaking on the latest treaty signed with the Russians:

Well some Repukes and Teabaggers don't have very good memories, Sarah Palin for instance, there is no debating that she has no memory, its doubtful she has a brain in her annoying little piggy head but here she was with Michelle Bachmann who really scares me with her whacked out religious views::

Now allow me to refresh everyone's memory, Palin brought up Reagan.....Scroll through his second Inaugural Address to about the 16:57 mark and you will find this quote shortly after:

"And this we're trying to do in negotiations with the Soviet Union. We're not just discussing limits on a further increase of nuclear weapons; we seek, instead, to reduce their number. We seek the total elimination one day of nuclear weapons from the face of the Earth. Now for decades, we and the Soviets have lived under the threat of mutual assured destruction; if either resorted to the use of nuclear weapons, the other could retaliate and destroy the one who had started it. Is there either logic or morality in believing that if one side threatens to kill tens of millions of our people, our only recourse is to threaten killing tens of millions of theirs?"

Gee, sounds kinda like what Obama has been talking about the last few days....reducing our nuclear arsenal.....This is nothing new and its a view shared with one of the republicans prized presidents. But since the repukes are throwing out important history in history books down in Texas I guess they are throwing out Reagan too.

The Wrist is Healed

Present Jays Logo

Im not letting this get my hopes up, all things considered this is going to be a long season for the Jays....BUT....someone found the Vernon Wells of 4 years ago.

After 2-3 disappointing seasons Vernon has gotten out to a sizzling start in the first series of the season in Texas, 6 for10, 4 home runs, 6 runs, 7 RBIs and 18 total bases.......I'd settle for half of that on a weekly basis from him.

The Jays are off to a 2-1 start with a series win against the Texas Rangers who are expected to be a player in the AL West. Add to that, that Ricky Romero was solid to start his sophmore season and the Jays have gone three solid starts into their rotation though the bullpen coughed up game one. Next up Baltimore.

Malcolm McLaren RIP

Malcolm McLaren the former manager of the New York Dolls and Sex Pistols as died today after battling caner. McLaren was a major influence in the culture of both the New York and London punk rock scenes of the 70's. His clothing store simply named SEX provided the look to the Sex Pistols and wanted them to look and sound like "Sexy Young Assassins.

The punk rock scene was never dull back in the day if McLaren was involved. His assistant Bernie Rhodes eventually went on to manage The Clash, so McLaren's influence was great in the day and he continued in fashion and the music/film and art scenes right up until recently.

He died today in New York City of Mesothelioma. The late 70's scene is and always will be a favorite time of mine for music because it spun off such a wide variety of new wave, punk and rock music that still sounds fresh today:

Not Watching Woods

tiger_and_dog

The hupe has been ridiculous surrounding Tiger Woods and I feel bad for even writing about the fact that I will not be watching it and posting it on here because it gives him more exposure, but at least Im giving him the right exposure, negative.

I hope its not just me who has been watching this thing unfold apalled at how the media, especially CBS has played this thing perfectly and for all intents and purposes it will end up being a big cash grab no matter how many press conferences or apologies Tiger Wood's gives, its all about the almighty dollar.

The "Apology" was an absolute joke. Who cares if he ever apologized to the media and fans, he did absolutely nothing to hurt us.....wait I said "us"....I meant them because I have honestly never been a big Tiger fan, just a casual observer presenting an unbiased point of view. What he did hurt him and his family. Sure it said a horrible message to kids, but with good parenting we explain it to our kids and that end is taken care of and really if your kids are looking up to this guy as any more than a great golfer then your kids are counting on him for too much before or after this incident. He plays golf, he doesn't save lives, hes not the president of our country and he isn't a teacher, those are the people who are our heros.

He should have apologized to his wife, family and to himself, for being an idiot and a cheater. What he is not in this however is a victim, he is not addicted to sex and for that matter, even if he was...what human being out there isn't addicted to sex, he did what he did willfully, its not an addiction to want to and to purposefully sleep with beautiful women. Hes a loser is what he is, a loser in life who couldn't keep his wank in his trousers despite having a hot wife he could have when ever he wanted.

So in comes CBS and hypes the shit out of this weekend, the sponsors are back, Tiger is back....like he went any where. Last time I checked Tiger finished the golf season last year did he not? He hasn't been away from the game for longer than a typical offseason, its the first big tournament, yet fans and the media are treating this like he hasn't played in three years.

CBS has hyped this thing up to the point where its a friggin cash grab for them, its trickled down to every media outlet to the point where its headline news everywhere and for what? For some great golfer who is a loser at life and we are celebrating the return to his livelyhood like he is some great hero for being a victim.

Folk's, Tiger is not the victim, his family is for putting up with his crap and his fans for believing in and watching this weekend and buying into the bullshit hype that is Tiger Woods.

Division Clinched!

sabresnedc

The division is clinched, next up, over the last games of the season its time to get greedy. Rest Miller if you must but 2nd place in the conference would be really nice.

I've been hard on this team this year, but mostly because we see them on nights like last night win big and then nights like when we play Ottawa and they choke.

Its been a great ride so far and if this team puts it all together nightly during the playoffs its going to be a long hockey season in Buffalo.

Sunday Retro-Easter Edition

Jesus was resurrected today if you believe in that sort of thing and I figured for Easter I'd do one of my favorite Cult tunes of all time.

The Cult did a little resurrecting themselves, that we know took place, back in the day with a little tune called Resurrection Joe

Resurrection Joe was released as a bonus track on The Cult's first full length release in September of 1984 called Dreamtime, to this day one of my favorite records to listen to from the 80's, enjoy!:

The Extended Warranty Rip Off

I was driving a 10 year old Toyota Corolla up until New Years Day when I was basically told that I fork over $700 to fix the catalytic converter or it wouldn't pass inspection.

Well, I decided  I'd rather put that money into a newer, used vehicle. I shopped around for a day or two, Fucillo, Steve Baldo, Northtown and others.

Well, I ended up back at Fucillo Toyota. They met my standards, a 2008 Nissan Versa, small economical and low mileage, 21,000 to be exact. I was willing to put $1000 down in addition to my trade in value of $1000, so I was basically putting $2000 down.

The deal was sealed when they offered me the car for $10,200, $8200 after trade in. Great done deal.

A month after purchase I noticed that there was an extended warranty on the car that I signed. I obviously wasn't paying close enough attention to the paperwork because if I was I would have turned the thing down.

A) its a Nissan, the thing will run forever if the oil is changed when needed and its taken care of

B) at 21,000 miles it sill had 15000 miles left on the original warranty.

So, I had $1800 added onto the car for an extended warranty that I didn't want or need. Well, obviously I called and complained and the finance manager at Fucillo acted dumb by saying that I wanted this and that I was going to regret it.

I kindly expained to him that the only thing I was regretting was being suckered into buying a warranty I didn't want. So he said he would get the warranty taken off the loan and have the $1800 refunded.

This was February 2nd. It is now April 3rd and the $1800 is still there, ao I called and talked to the finance manager and gave him a piece of my mind. Its been 60 days. If I was 60 days late paying for this warranty they would have dropped me like a bad habit.

In the meantime $1800 extra is on my loan running up the interest on my loan. My payments without the warranty would have been $166 per month, with the $1800 they are $197 per month. Thats a $30 per month difference which by anyone's standards is a huge difference.

They can't redo the loan which I respect that, I will end up paying off the car early, but they need to get this money refunded yesterday. This finance manager is supposed to call me Monday to let me know what the results are. He checked on it today and he said the request was still "processing".

I'll fill everyone in on what happens, in the meantime, beware of the extended warranty scam when you buy your used car.

Damn Habs

dead-habs

Please let us get the Evil Habs in the first round. I miss hating this team and tonight got me back to doing just that. They are the Yankees of hockey and its about time we here in Buffalo developed a healthy rivalry/hate for this team again.

3-0 tonight and the Hab fans and their fucking nah nah, hey hey hey goodbye crap at the end and Ian Laperriere pointing at the scoreboard and pointing at the Buffalo bench really got me seething.

If this is our first round match up all I have to say to Hab fans is check the standings, you are coming here 4 times, we won't need all four because if we do get that matchup, guaranteed the series goes no more than 5, we'll rub it in and put it away on Montreal's home ice.

Its official. I hate the Habs again.

Chocolate Jesus

This might be my new theme song. Tom Waits has this song called Chocolate Jesus, the first line of the song fits me just fine.

Those of you who know me know that I am no fan of religion, I think its a nice story but from Christianity down to the Cult of Mormonism, religion is basically full of crap.

My religion on Sundays is the back of my eye lids. This weekend is one of my two days a year where I have to stomach an hour at church if for anything else to make my wife happy, The rest of the year, I stay away, it has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that I just don't believe in organized religion.

How can you when you have the Pope and the Catholic church protecting child molesters and the Pope going to Africa, a continent in the midst of an AIDS epidemic telling them not to use contraceptives.

Religion does more harm than good and while there are those that are in it for the good, I simply turn you to a few local churches, like that huge ass office like structure off the 990, tell me that church is in it for anything other than scamming its patrons out of money.

The religious right in this country while again having its good people amongst them is largely racist and violent making them no better than Islamic extremists.

You also have politicians and militias hiding behind their religion instead of admitting that it was all their doing by their own freewill. Religion will be our downfall, its a recipe for predjudice's and hate.

So this Easter I am going to church, and yes my wife's church is among the good ones, it still will not find me there more than twice a year....Easter and Christmas, let this be the new theme song of BBM. Tom Waits, Chocolate Jesus.....(Humble and Fred if I remember correctly used to give out Chocolate Jesus's....I remember Freddie once called them....Chocolate Lords.)

Buffalo's Bitch Over The Last 10

This is a little outdated but hey, they could keep recycled the same old crap up at the ACC. I can poke fun at the Leafs because they are my second favorite team going back to the old Campbell/Wales Conferences when they weren't in Buffalo's division.

The Leafs suck, plain and simple and I would be surprised to get an argument from any of my friends up north but when I heard the unbelievable streak Buffalo has had against them it hit home how bad things are up there.

We have won 10 in a row now against the Leafs dating back to the Bush Administration.

Of course it isn't all bad for the Leafs, the Sabres can thank them for neutralizing the fact that Ottawa has handed our asses to us all year. The Leafs have beaten Ottawa 4 times this year, we have yet to beat Ottawa.

Tonight though, The Leafs will continue to be our bitch as we clinch first in the Northeast. Come on Toronto peoples, who would you rather see on top, Buffalo or Ottawa, you know you like us down here.
