Hip For The Hell Of It
For this version of HFTHOI we are going back to Roxy & Elsewhere. On the Roxy & Elsewhere bootleg there is a version of one of the Tragically Hip's signature songs, New Orleans is Sinking. Its famously known amongst Hip fans as "The Killer Whale" version.
I played that one on my first Roxy post and tonight Im sharing Blow at High Dough off that bootleg, the other signature song of the Hip, what I love off all the songs on this bootleg is how raw they sound. They were pretty much recorded and left in their original form. I wonder if this was done originally by the group and just never officially released in stores?Category: Hip For The Hell Of It

The best thing about being a Hip fan is I don't think I could find one song on any one of their releases that I dislike. I have my favorites as any music fan would, but there is no one song that I would hear that I would turn off upon it coming on my stereo.
Fiddler's Green was a song that they broke out of the vaults on the World Container tour and its one of those obscure tunes to the casual Hip fan but over they years, and being a fan whose first exposure to the Hip was on their Road Apples record, this song was a major treat to see them do live.
I saw them in Rochester and we didn't get Fiddler's Green but the Buffalo show back in March of 2007 got it. This is not the Buffalo version. Its the Calgary version and its pretty good quality.

Its been a while since I did some good Tragically HIp stuff, here is a tune off 2004's In Between Evolution, its called "It Can't Be Nashville Every Night". This whole disc features Gord at his best vocally.
I was thinking today that its been a while, (March of 2007) since I last saw them live. Almost two years, I don't know if I have ever gone that long before, they need to do a Buffalo show at HSBC again.
