Butts Wigglin Reminds Me of My Dog
When ever I see my dog Molson (hes a pure bred beagle) come running at me with his tail wagging 100 miles per hour I can't help but think of the title to The Tragically Hip song Butts Wigglin. His but wiggles as hes coming toward me to about the same beat as the song.
Lyrically there is no mention of "Butts Wigglin" but the beat and bass line make you want to wiggle your but to the tune. I wish the Hip would play this live more.
Here is a clip of the Kids in the Hall 1996 movie Brain Candy for which the Hip contributed Butts Wigglin to the soundtrack.
Above is a picture of Molson on Halloween last year. Yeah I promised myself I would never dress my dog up for anything but it was too tempting to make him a swimmer with a Stingrays cap and goggles. He played the part well.

Trouble in the Cold
What they forget to tell you about caring for your pet in the cold is that when the snow is as deep as it is, smaller dogs like our boy Molson, has issues finding a spot to do his business.
That does two things, it not only makes him very cold but the one walking him has to wait him out in this miserable cold.
So, I had a brilliant idea, shovel part of the lawn off so he has a place to go! And what the hell do you think happened? I took him out, he circled in the spot I shoveled and went with in 60 seconds. Well god damn if I knew that two weeks ago I would have been a warmer and much happier dog owner.
Beagles are picky enough as it is without having a foot and a half of snow on the ground and so far by all accounts, hes not a big fan of the cold and snow as a few days he didn't even want to go out the door because it was too deep in the driveway for him.
The life of a small dog! Not too mention, in the deep snow his little pee pee must get friggin frost bitten never mind his paws.

Molson The Swimmer
I swore I would never dress my dog for Halloween but it was too tempting, the goggles around the neck, the cap fit with a little string around his neck and tomorrow I will fit a suit around him.
Molson, will be a swimmer for Halloween. A Stingray to be exact. Maybe we can get him into a 50 yard freestyle next year.

Welcome Home Molson
Molson, our 6 month old beagle came home today, this is a picture of the boy. In addition to having his neutering done, he also had both eyes operated on as he had cherry eye in both eyes.
He has to wear the cone around his neck for a week. Hes going to be miserable, but it prevents him from scratching at his eyes.
Next Thursday he goes to the vet to get his eyes checked again, until then its eye drops and the cone. Send get well wishes in the comments section and Ill be sure to pass them on to him.

Surgery For Molson
Well, the new boy may need surgery. He has cherry eye. It is basically when the third eyelid becomes infected and prolapses. It isn't quite as bad as the picture and right now he is on drops but if it doesn't get any better, he will need surgery to fix.
The good news is that so far, the cost is being billed to Steve's Pets because it was a pre-existing condition when we got him. He does the drops for now and then if the surgery is needed, they will do it when he gets neutered to save on cost of putting him under.
