Dumb Ass

limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh should have his ass taken off the air. He is so dumb that he actually outsmarts himself. He pretends to bring up scenarios like hes saying what he is saying on purpose. Its actually kind of entertaining but listening to him today, I have to say that if people that mattered actually listened to him, he would be kicked off the air before Imus or any other shock jock.

He accused Colin Powell of being racist and elitest for his endorsement of Barack Obama. Yeah okay, elitest. I think that word should be pointed toward Limbaugh and McCain. Remember that huge, ridiculous contract Rush signed? I can't imagine the radio network that supports him is making money on that deal. His listeners are dwindling because they realize how full of crap he is.

Then there is McCain, pointing the elitest finger at Obama. Yeah okay Mr. I own nine homes and my wife wears $300,000 dresses. Thats not elitest in anyway shape or form.

Then calling Powell racist. Picking Obama just because he is black. Wow. that is an insult to African American voters all over this country who vote based on the issues and being educated on Obama's policies.

Then he says that the media talking about his statements is playing right into the hands of his plan.....plan for what Rush? Your plan to make a complete and total ass out of yourself? You are the biggest loser on the radio, followed closely by Sean Hanity.

If Rush had any African American listeners, which he doesn't because they are too smart to listen to him, they would be asking for his head right now. Thats okay though, because the end is near for Rush, Randi Rhodes will be taking his place after Obama wins as the landscape of political radio changes to represent the true majority of this country. Better yet, replace him and his fat contract with Humble and Fred!

Terrorist Talk Is Skirting The Real Issues

Bill Press is the morning show guy on AM 1520 and is one of the best political talk show hosts in the nation. Hes intelligent, insightful and when he has to will hit politicians on both sides of the political fence. He is also not biased toward his party, the democrats. What he does is tells it honestly.

Its refreshing to have such a station like AM 1520 because it allows you to escape the republican/conservative laden radio that we have been exposed to here in Buffalo with Rush Limbaugh and WBEN over the years.

Have a listen to Bill commenting on the McCain campaign and them accusing Barrack Obama of hanging out with terrrorists:

Pre-emptive Financial War on US

Wow, this is so interesting. I said it last week, this $700 billion dollar bailout will not and should not happen without regulatory guarantees to the American taxpayers.

These institutions are not federally insured like a bank. These institutions that failed are failing on their own accord, on deregulation that they wanted and this Administration granted knowing this was going to be the result. Now as Randi Rhodes points out today on her web site and during her radio show on AM 1520.

Its really refreshing to hear a voice on the radio that knows what they are talking about, this was her response today to the whole mess of last week:

"Bush and Cheney allowed everything and anything in Financial Markets to occur and then after the heist do they have to return the money? Hell no. YOU put the money back into their failed businesses. Yep. This has been the greatest con job, bank heist, rip off, robbery, raping of the US Treasury in the History of the World. Even if you don't think it was grand theft, bailing out broke Financial Institutions who failed to safeguard their money makes sense to NO ONE.

The crisis isn't really a crisis either. This is PRE EMPTIVE.

One solution would be to simply negotiate with you. Too simple, and who makes money that way?

The newspapers were screaming there is worthless paper out there being sold and resold to Financial Institutions. This can't work. And then it didn't. It wasn't just houses, it was OIL too. Fake value was put on a barrel of crude by speculators. The President did nothing. The cost of everything sky rocketed. Then speculators bet the price would go down and it did. But the price at the pump stayed the same. That's because there was no relationship between the price of crude and the price at the pump. It was all just manipulation.

Now in the middle of the night, over a weekend THE BAILOUT "plan" appears. There are no new regulations attached to receiving the Bail Out money so this could happen all over again, and there are no "people" to sort through these loans so we have to "contract out" that job on top of it.

This is THE PATRIOT ACT ALL OVER AGAIN. Anything Congress RUSHES through will be THE WRONG RESPONSE and take from you all that you have. Freedom, privacy, money, credit, all of it must go!

The massive "bailout package" has to be paid for. How? Perhaps a massive tax increase, definitely very tight credit markets for you and for small businesses.

There will be bank merger after bank merger which will limit competition for loans and bank services. The Treasury will hire "contractors" through "no bid contracts" to place a "value" on valueless paper and set the price YOU have to pay to settle all the debt. NO one will really know how to price these things. NO one will know what they're doing, but everyone will get INTO THE BUSINESS of buying and selling these worthless assets.

There will be a bail out of both foreign and domestic banks with your tax dollars, and all of this will happened without REGULATIONS or OVERSIGHT . THE REAL SOLUTION IS THE ONE YOU KNOW. If the markets were regulated NOW and Mortgage holders would be permitted to renegotiate the principal on their home loans this would STOP dead in it's tracks.

Every individual with a bad loan could offer to pay 60 cents on the dollar, more or less and keep their home. If we could make deals with credit card companies to settle our debts this would stop now because we'd have more money in our pockets to prop up the Economy.

If we raised taxes on Billionaires who created this mess and forced them to pay for this, This would stop NOW. If we lowered taxes on Small Businesses and gave them low cost inventory loans THIS WOULD STOP NOW. If we lowered taxes on everyone making less than 2M a year, and raised taxes through the roof on those who had profits of over $10 Million this would stop NOW. Small businesses would pop up all over America and people could go back to work, small business would flourish and the taxes we pay at the lower rates would pay down the DEBT. If we left Iraq NOW we would add 10 Billion a MONTH to the Treasury.

This Government Bailout of banks BEFORE they fail, including FOREIGN BANKS with Taxpayer dollars is PRE EMPTIVE FINANCIAL WAR on the American People. It is the last part of Shock and Awe."

You go Randi!

What An Asshole

rush limbaugh is a big

Rush Limbaugh just now was commenting on the McCain VP pick and I can not believe that he gets away talking like the insensitive asshole that he is.

He said about Sarah Palin and I quote: "She is a mother of five, she had A DOWNS SYNDROME BABY AND DIDN'T ABORT IT."

How friggin insensitive can he get. How politically incorrect can he get? If any other talk show host says that he be crucified. He said it like he was surprised that she wouldn't abort a baby with down's syndrome. Like this kid is worthless because of down's syndrome.

He said it so as a matter of factly that he made it seem like he thinks babies with down syndrome are aborted all the time, which is not the case. Not even close.

Rush, I hope there were others listening to your opening comments who had the chance to hear that who took it the way I did. You are truly a classless act. So much so infact that Im not going to bother posting your picture. I should post a picture of a steaming pile of dog crap, because after hearing those comments today thats about all he is,

As far as McCain's VP pick, he can't talk about how Obama is inexperience, this chick is about as inexperienced as they come. How could anyone look at this and say that this is a good pick? She is ultra conservative, pro-life, pro-guns, its a female version of George W. Bush. She is also in favor of more oil. The only thing she has going for her is her looks. Shes actually pretty nice looking, but we are not voting on looks, we are voting for someone who can run this country, McCain needs more than her to help him win this race.

Radio Nigel

nigel by you.

In the endless pursuit for quality music listening experiences I was reading some comments on a recent post from Freddie P. He wanted to know what Toronto radio lacks. In case some of you are not familiar with the Toronto radio scene there have been a number of changes that have not necessarily gone over well over the years with radio listeners in TO.

We here in Buffalo are lucky as we get a number of the more powerful Toronto stations such as Q107 and CFNY 102.1 amongst others. CFNY has lost its luster starting with the loss of the Humble and Fred Show. It was cool for a while, Humble and Fred did MOJO Radio AM 640 so they were still around. But 102.1 lost its appeal. I have almost stopped listening to music on the radio which sucks because I feel I have not kept up with the "new" music scene.

So Freddie wants to know what would the Toronto radio listeners do differently with the state of radio in Toronto without bringing back the Humble and Fred Show.

Well there were a number of interesting responses and one of them, from a guy named Steve, included this alternative to radio, Radio Nigel. It is an interesting mix of 80's tunes that sounds very much like what you would have heard on the old school CFNY. My suggestion was a classic alternative format which I think is sorely needed. You could constantly add to the playlist as there is always new alternative rock coming out and let the fans of the old school pick what belongs on the classic list.

This is a sample playlist from Nigel Radio:

Thu 28th Aug,2008 02:26 pm

14:23:49 U2 - Wire

14:23:39 Bump H2 - Uncertainty

14:20:59 Iggy Pop - Im bored

14:15:44 Depeche Mode - Fly On The Windscreen

14:11:38 REM - Radio Song

14:08:19 Soft Cell - Down In The Subway

14:04:34 Devo - That's Good

13:59:04 The Smiths - This Charming Man(New York Vocal)

13:56:21 The Plimsouls - How Long Will It Take?

I've almost come to a point in my music listening life where I like what I like and I'm probably not going to experience much new stuff without being either very critical of it or just hating it for lack of adventure. I like music that sounds different or at least attempts to do stuff that no one has tried or at least no one else is doing at the time.

Don't get me wrong, I like some new stuff that has come out, The Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire and Hot Hot Heat are some examples of stuff I like now but I always find myself rediscovering the stuff from back in the day. Maybe because that stuff was so different then that it was ahead of its time. If you go back and listen to that old school CFNY stuff it still sounds fresh today because quite frankly, much of what comes out today all sounds so stale. Bands like Nickelback just don't do it for me. They are boring, watered down reruns of what Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden tried to pave the way for.

Its why I really don't listen to Buffalo radio. 103.3 The Edge is really loud guitar laden band after loud guitar laden band with little to no originality or attempt to play anything different from time to time. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the guitar laden stuff but I like the INXS's, Cures and New Orders too.

One station I do enjoy is 92.9 Jack FM because at least on there, they try to give a variety and mix it up a little. You can hear Led Zepplin followed by Echo and the Bunnymen. Thats refreshing. Not too many stations around here can say they can do that.

So here is my question, which is much the same as Freddie's, what would anybody around Buffalo change about our radio scene? One thing I would do is get rid of the record industries influence and this playlist mentality that gets stations over playing certain songs just because they are big at any given time. One reason I do like Toronto/Canadian radio in general is they do have a larger selection to play on their stations so you don't hear songs 20 times a day.

The only requirement Canadian radio has had and I don't know if that is still the same is they have a Canadian content requirement that requires them to play 35% Canadian artist, which has helped the likes of Sam Robers, The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace and other bands acheive a degree of success in Buffalo and border cities in the US that they would not have had otherwise.

Have at it, let me know about your feelings about the Buffalo radio scene and go check out that Nigel Radio, its worth a listen.

Humble Howard is Working Again

Humble Howard

Mike Boon is reporting today that Humble Howard, formerly of the Humble and Fred show and one of my favorite radio personalities of all time is back on the radio in the morning. No its not with Freddie P. It is on EZ Rock 97.3.

The photo above is from Mike Boon's coverage of the Humble and Fred Christmas Podcast which if you remember the Humble and Fred Show of years past, they were known for the Christmas Spectaculars as they liked to call them.

While I probably won't go and listen for the music, I will tune in to hear Howard. He is an incredibly funny guy and with the right mix of characters in the morning can be a really cool show to wake up to. Maybe EZ Rock can change their format to a classic alternative format or something? Stop by Howard's site and wish him luck in his new gig and congradulations Howard, looking forward to hearing ya on the air waves again, hopefully that station will come in down in WNY.

Here is a little clip of the former Humble and Fred Show off the #1 in '97 CD:

$400 Million for Rush?

limbaugh

There are star athletes who are getting paid huge sums of money some would consider outrageous, others, because of the sport they play or because of their work ethic and talent would say make exactly what they should. Thats fine, I can deal with sports figures getting what they get.

What I can't get my thoughts around is Rush Limbaugh making the coin he makes and spewing the crap he spews at the listeners on a daily basis.

I listen to AM 1520 which is a progessive and primarily democratic talk radio station. Every once in a great while I will turn to hear what Rush is spewing about and its usually sickening that he thinks the way he does and gets away with it.

Listen to him for an hour, hell, 15 minutes and you'll here some of the most incredible bullshit uttered on radio. I guess thats part of his secret, he's so one-sided, so out there to the conservative right, that people who hate him will tune in just to hear what is coming out of the jackass next. Thats exactly how Howard Stern got his audience. You hear stories and eventually the stories get you to tune in for 15 minutes and then all of a sudden, you're hooked, not because you like him, but because you are shocked into listening to someone actually talk this way.

No matter what the guy says or how true or untrue it is in relation to the political world, there is one thing that I am thoroughly convinced of. He doesn't deserve that much money. The day he has a democrat point of view to present an argument that he has to defend and someone or something that actually challenges what he says, that is when I will say he is worth something. All his talk show is, is him talking about ultra-conservative issues and his puppets who actually like him calling in and blowing sunshine up his ass.

Keep in mind that the utra-conservative right wing views you are listening to is coming from a $400 million dollar elitist. He has more money in his pocket than you or I will ever dream of. Thats not a conservative talking. He'll say what ever he has to as long as he gets every penny of that $400 million. Rush Limbaugh is so far out of touch with reality and the average American its ridiculous and you can hear it when he talks. He has no clue what the average American is going through.

Ill still tune in every once in a great while, just to see what he is talking about, but believe me, I will never be hooked on him, Ill tune out just in time so that my presence won't increase his ratings. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of having me count to his over-inflated number of listeners.
