My Theme Song for the Royal Wedding

How brain washed are we? Brain washed into waking up at 4 AM to watch a wedding between two rich kids who call themselves royalty. Are we still in the middle ages? All the royal family does in Britain is cost the tax payers money. They serve absolutely no purpose other than that of a figurehead. yet they are somehow put up on this gigantic pedestal. I wasn't opening one eyelid for that circus unless Prince William himself stood at my front door handing out $100 bills. .

We live in the US and during these tough economic and political times we are making headline news of some money pit of a royal wedding in another country? Get your heads out of your collective asses and come back to reality.

We Are a Dumbed Down Nation

I woke up this morning to this on the early shows:

Is that really all you have to do to get on TV anymore? I get it, its cute, but morning show worthy? I have a year and a half old daughter and you know what? She is way cuter and I would never try to A) Exploit her like this, how much money did her parents take for the interviews on the morning shows? B) Why is this news? It happens every day.....its because we are dumbed down in this country.

And while we are speaking of dumbed down....This waste of flesh is thinking about starting his own network:

He should call it CWCN, COME WATCH CRAZY NETWORK....Thats the only thing you can call it. The guy is a complete lunatic. But, he will attract the same horde of crazy that watches him on FOX, and believe me, people do watch him, though not as many as you'd think. He is losing sponsors on FOX News because, well, he is losing viewers. A lot of republicans actually think there is someone on that network who goes too far and that someone is Beck. He is actually too crazy for some republicans.

So as long as he does this, I mean really, don't just tease us Glenn, if you are going to do it, go large, bring Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin and O'Reilly without and then maybe FOX can be what they claim to be, Fair and Balanced.

The fact that Glenn Beck can even think of doing this though, says just how dumbed down this country really is.

Francis Would Be Pissed

Francis Scott Key

Francis Scott Key, he has been dead for a while, but could you imagine if he were still around to hear disaster after disaster of his song that became our national anthem? All too often its treated as a joke that we get famous celebrities some good singers and some not so good to go out and essentially butcher the song. Last nigth, did anyone other than me hear Christina start singing the thing and think "Damn, the game isn't going to start for 15 minutes?" I did.

From Rosanne Barr's hideous vocals to Ozzy Osborne at the Cubs game to last night, Christina Aguilera, don't get me wrong she has a great voice, she can sing, but get it right.

Don't just get the lyrics right but sing the song it was meant to be sung. Don't add notes where they don't need to be added. The Star Spangled Banner is a good song all by itself without having some pop star try to do it in their own way.

I have watched thousands of regular season and playoff hockey games and not once have I heard the run of the mill anthem singer try to make either the Canadian National Anthem or the American National Anthem something its not. Its bigger than any star that can get up there and try to do it like it was their own. Its not their own, it belongs to me, you and every other US citizen and it should be sung straight up.

It was meant to be sung at a specific cadence if you will and not be......glamorized for lack of a better word by X pop star in a national spotlight. Don't turn a minute and a half national anthem into a 5 minute pop song, no pop star is that big to have that right. Just sing the anthem the way it was meant to be sung.

Who is to blame when things like last night happen? I blame the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA and other major events for allowing it and saying to these stars, your job is to use your voice and sing it the way it was supposed to be sung, don't turn the thing into something its not, something the writer, Francis Scott Key would probably be pretty pissed at right now. There are plent of professional anthem singers that sing the thing on a nightly basis at everyday sporting events who would love to be in Christna's shoes last night and they would have done a much better job than what she ended up doing.

She fucked up, she sounded good doing it, but she fucked up, and she deserved to fuck up, as does any singer who turns our national anthem into something that its not meant to be. Just sing the damn song.

Over The Top Patriotism

Did anyone else find the reading of the Declaration of Independence before the start of the game a little over the top? Or at least wierd?

It was just a wierd thing to me, and a little insulting. I know I'm an American, everyone knows the NFL is this big "American" sports league, I just found it to be kind of shoving it down our throats and a little forced.

Why read the thing before the Super Bowl? To prove how "American" the NFL is? Isn't it enough that they sing America and the Naitional Anthem before the game? Whats wrong with just the National Anthem? Are we that insecure about our patriotism that we have to start reading historic documents? What will they do next year read the Gettysburg Address? Perhaps reading the constitution in full for three hours before the game starts. That ought to bore people to tears....oh wait, the republicans already wasted tax payer dollars doing that earlier this year on the floor of congress.

Sing the National Anthem...correctly mind you, and play friggin ball. Besides Baseball is still America's true pastime

O'Reilly Has Lost Any Credibility

I love this clip, Bill O'Reilly had David Silverman who is president of American Atheists who have been placing billboards stating that religion is a myth. Save yourself the time and just go straight to 1:51 of this clip where Bill O'Reilly tries to use the tides to make a case for God:

Nevermind the debate over atheism vs. religion, everyone who has read this blog and read my posts on religion knows where I stand and either you are with me or you believe otherwise, thats all good and well, but O'Reilly lost this debate....Silverman should have stopped O'Reilly and asked him if he ever heard of the moon!!!!!! Everyday in the paper if you live along any significant body of water in the world you will find a section in the weather about the tides.....what causes the tides? THE MOON, they predict the tides and are completely accurate based on the moon.

O'Reilly should have lost any and all credibility after this segment, of course he won't and there was probably a bunch of FOX News brainwashed viewers going "Yeah man God makes the tides"....if you honestly believe that...then you need help. Lots of help.

Fraud

If that made your brain hurt, leave a comment.

Bristol, its bad enough your mom is a bimbo, you don't have to follow in her footsteps. This ad is complete BS, you have already done the "Situation" so you can't go doing ads on it and expect kids or anyone else to take you seriously.

Think about what you are saying, you are basically saying that you fucked up, which is fine, but then are you admitting that your kid was a mistake? Try explaining that to your son, hey you were a mistake because I should have kept my legs closed, that ought to go over well.

And what was up with the Situation conversation....that made my head spin, just say SEX. Im sure thats the conversation most adults/kids have about sex, hey you going to avoid the situation, you haven't been in the situation yet have you? They should have done that with Adam Sandler's Cajun Man:

Sarah Palin's Alaska: Unreal

What a load of shit. Seriously, The Learning Channel is dead if they are going to continue to air this horsecrap. I know Im late on this, time has been at a premium here, but I had to get on and just throw my 2 cents in here.

There is nothing that Sarah Palin's Alaska is going to teach anyone. First, they call it reality TV, its not, its totally scripted and it feeds line after line of Sarah's bullshit. What's even better though is if you talked to anyone from Alaska, not even the citizens of Alaska respects her or her family. Its a complete joke.

I like the other 5 million of the record audience tuned in, I could only stomach 15 minutes before I was going to either have to shoot the TV or myself, but geez, The Learning Channel is going to have to start calling itself TIB: The Idiot Box, thats exactly what Sarah Palin's show turns your TV into.

If they keep running this garbage a few things are going to happen:

1. Their audience will go down. I bet over half the 5 million that tuned in for the ratings were those just wanting to see it and see it for what it is, a waste of time and television money. I'll bet this show lasts no more than 6 months. I'll bet the second show in this series the ratings are cut in half, They won't get more than 2.5 million to watch.

2. She is going to be scrutinized even more now. Remember back in during the election in 2008...my kids and family are off limits? Talk about a reversal, they are right there in the spotlight for all to see. She is using her family to get the dumb ass voters in this country to cozy up to her if she decides to run. I just hope voters in this country aren't that easily fooled.

Bottom line is that this show is crap, The Learning Channel shouldn't be putting this crap on, unless their true, indirect goal is to expose Palin for the bimbo she really is. If thats the case keep showing it, but I won't waste another 15 minutes watching it because I already learned that back in 2008. I guess they have to air material for those who are slow learners too.
